Monument Creek Wildfire Studies, 2025

These studies were made after three years of visiting the Monument Creek Wildfire site (cut block R14738E) in sn̓ʕay̓ckstx (Sinixt) territory, BC.  The colours in this series reflect a sense of heat in the landscape, though not intentionally. Warm tones derive from the pigments naturally available in the area, which tend toward browns and yellows. The studies were made with charcoal, ash, carbonized soil, ochre rich soil, tansy, blue elderberry, alder and fireweed with various methods and binders.
